On the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday praised the mission as a new standard in modern warfare, highlighting its exceptional accuracy and seamless coordination among the three services. He described the operation as a strong testament to the nation’s determination and readiness to tackle security threats.

The operation was launched on May 7 last year in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, with airstrikes targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, killing at least 100 terrorists.

“On this anniversary, we honour the bravery and sacrifices of our armed forces, whose courage and dedication continue to protect the nation,” Singh said. “Their conduct during the operation demonstrated unmatched precision, smooth integration, and deep cooperation across the services, establishing a new benchmark for contemporary military actions.”

He added that the operation is a “powerful symbol of national resolve and preparedness, proving that our armed forces are always ready to act decisively when the moment demands.” It also reflects India’s steady progress toward self-reliance (#Atmanirbharta), enhancing capabilities while strengthening resilience.

Later on Thursday, Singh will lead a comprehensive review of India’s national security challenges and military readiness at a joint commanders’ conference in Jaipur. According to the defence ministry, the conference will serve as a key platform to assess challenges in emerging domains such as cyber, space, and cognitive warfare, and to outline a roadmap for developing a resilient, future-ready force with a decisive edge.
