Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has condemned the state of absolute disorder in Jammu and Kashmir. Blaming the LG-headed administration of the union territory for the lawlessness, Party’s leadership has demanded safety and security for the common men.

Disturbed by killing incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, NCP’s state coordinator Rakesh Sapru on Thursday blamed the J&K administration for failing to create an atmosphere of safety and security. “It is because there is an absence of a responsible government”, said Sapru in his press statement. Reminding about the brutal killing of Sanjay Sharma, a Kashmiri Pandit from Pulwama, Sapru said, “Itis a grim reminder of how common man in Kashmir is living under a constant threat to life.”

Sanjay Sharma (42) was a Bank Guard by profession. He was gunned down by the militants near his home in Pulwama on Sunday. “Mr. Sharma even had security posted for protection yet he was gunned down close to his house. Despite the defenseless civilian Kashmiri Pandits continuing to become a target of violence, hundreds of them are being pushed to the UT under the PM Job scheme.” He further said while claiming that the KPs are being pressured to risk their lives by joining services in violence-torn areas of Kashmir.

Blaming the UT administration for failing to resolve the issue of Kashmiri Pandits, Rakesh Sapru the NCP leader insisted that it is high time that a responsive government elected by the people is allowed to take charge in J&K. In addition to this Rakesh Sapru also claimed that the youth of J&K are facing massive unemployment. He urged the Central Government in New Delhi to hold Assembly Elections in J&K at the earliest so people can have a representative government in places which is sympathetic to the needs of the people of J&K.

There has been a longstanding demand to conduct the election in J&K whose status as a state was downgraded to that of a UT after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah in a recent interview had assured that the statehood would be restored in J&K after the elections. Elections were expected earlier this year, but there seems to be no movement in the administrative or political circles of J&K yet.
