Hansraj Ahir assumes charge in National Commission for Backward Classes

Chairman of National Commission for Backward Classes, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir assumed charge of his officeon Friday. Hansraj Ahir is a four times Lok Sabha MP from Chandrapur in Maharashtra.

visited his office and assumed charge as Chairperson, National Commission for Backward Classes. Also a former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers in Modi led NDA government in 16th Lok Sabha.

Member of Parliamnet from Chandrapur, State of Maharashtra, Hansraj mentions himself an Agriculturist by profession. Earlier he was also the Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council.

Hansraj Gangaram Ahir had been Member of various Standing Committees of Parliament. He also served as the Chairperson of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Coal and Steel. nd Fertilizers, Government of India the 16th Lok Sabha. As an MP he was honoured with Sansad Ratna Award in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Ahir started his career as a grassroot worker in Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). In 1991 he was appointed the president of District Committee of BJP from Chandrapur
