Arnav Sahu, a student hailing from Bhubaneshwar, is making waves with his inspiring story of academic achievement and personal growth. His journey to success to has not been an easy one. Coming back to India from Africa, Arnav faced difficulty in finding schools in Visakhapatnam that offered him the same subjects as he studied in Africa. However, things changed when he started at Oakridge International School, Visakhapatnam in 2017 when he was in grade 7. Oakridge International School is the pioneer of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Andhra Pradesh and Arnav is currently pursuing his IB Diploma Programme with the school.

He has been an integral part of the school community for the past 7 years and has excelled both academically and in sports. The Bhubaneshwar boy quickly thrived in the schools supportive and challenging environment, becoming a state-level tennis player, and achieving a lot of medals in state level tennis tournaments. “Arnav is one of our best and brightest! He is an amicable student with a balanced personality, boundless curiosity and displays a true-blue sportsman attitude. Whilst being a natural introvert and a reflective learner, Arnav has great ideas and does not hesitate to express them effectively as required. Over the years, I have seen Arnav in a constant drive to push his own boundaries in order to grow as a learner and to inspire his peers to do the same,” Says Pallavi Joshi, IBDP Coordinator at Oakridge.
Arnav has shown incredible dedication, resilience, and leadership skills at school to become a shining example of what hard work can accomplish. His achievements extend beyond sports. As a House Captain, he has displayed remarkable leadership qualities, and his university offers from renowned institutions such as Kings College London, Arizona State University, Queens Mary University London, Purdue University, and University of California, San Diego are a testament to his academic excellence. “His curiosity, management skills, discipline, and leadership qualities are what have helped him achieve his goals,” says Shaila Bhamidipati, Principal at Oakridge.
Despite the challenges of the IB Diploma Programme, Arnav chose to take it up, recognizing that it was one of the best decisions he ever made. The programmes demanding workload taught him resilience, and he was able to transform from a silent introvert to a bold and extroverted person. “Being a part of the IB program at Oakridge helped me in several ways, but most importantly, it has helped me foster a strong sense of resilience through the diverse set of challenges that I was exposed to and ultimately overcame,” says Arnav.
